Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution

Mayhew-Hite Report

Dear Readers:

The Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution is pleased to bring you The Mayhew-Hite Report on Dispute Resolution and the Courts.

This report was originally written and distributed in hard copy, thanks to funding from the Arthur I. Vorys Institute on Dispute Resolution at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. The aim of the report, initially titled Pass the Gavel, was to keep Ohio judges and court administrators abreast of the latest developments in the alternative dispute resolution (ADR) field. The efforts of Professor Sarah R. Cole and various students at the Moritz College of Law, serving as editors, made the report an overwhelming success.

After its first year in existence, Pass the Gavel was renamed The Mayhew-Hite Report on Dispute Resolution and the Courts. It continued to be produced in hard form, and was distributed twice over the 2003-2004 school year.

In 2004, in response to a rising demand for quicker reporting and analysis of the ADR field, the editors decided to expand the report's focus. The Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution, the nation's leading journal in the ADR field and the official journal of the ABA Section on Dispute Resolution, was asked to collaborate on the project, and a new version of the report was born.

The report now has a broader aim, focusing on ADR developments across the nation. It is created by report editor Abbie Sockloff and other students on the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution, and it is distributed electronically via e-mail to ADR-interested individuals like yourself on a quarterly basis. We believe that the new format will allow you to learn about the latest happenings in ADR as soon as they occur.

Please take this opportunity to read the most recent report issue, as well as past issues. We hope you enjoy this unique production.
